Concept Note
The land-freshwater-coast-ocean continuum ecosystem is a chain of interconnected environments that begins with land and stretches to the ocean. This ecosystem includes a variety of habitats, such as forests, grasslands, wetlands, and streams, which are all connected and dependent on one another. These habitats provide a home for a diverse range of plants and animals, and support vital ecological processes such as water filtration, nutrient cycling, and carbon sequestration. The health of this ecosystem is essential for the well-being of all life on Earth, and it is important to protect and preserve these habitats for future generations.
The blue economy is a major contributor to the global economy, and is estimated to be worth trillions of dollars. There are many opportunities for growth within the blue economy, including the development of new technologies, the expansion of marine-based industries, and the creation of new jobs. At the same time, it is important to ensure that the blue economy is sustainable and does not harm the ocean environment. This can be achieved through measures such as responsible fishing practices, the protection of marine habitats, and the reduction of ocean pollution.
In this event, we will explore the transformative potential of Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable Blue Economy through Water Action, Cooperation and Youth Engagement. Some of the focus areas are:
This event will bring together various stakeholders such as representatives from national governments, international agencies, industry, chambers of commerce, think tanks, academia, civil society and youth organizations on a common platform to discuss and deliberate on the solutions for a better future.
